St Sebastians 2026
Sympkyn of the Moor
Another year and another St Sebastians event. This year about 104 people attended the event. It was truly lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves.
This year we were graced by Konungr Þorvaldr and Dróttning Amabilia, our current Crown. It was lovely to see the Crown at an event again.
As usual there were a number of tournaments.
The heavy tournament had 13 participants. After much discussion it was decided that the format would be 4 melees, with the winner of each advancing to the semi finals. The semi’s and final were fought as a best of 3. Konungr Þorvaldr carried the day after a well fought final against Lord Leo
The rapier tournament was run as a Roses Tourney. Each combatant could issue challenges to any of the others and the winner of each match gained a rose that they could gift to whomever they pleased. With only 5 combatants there were many challenges and fairly quick turn arounds between fights. I am pleased to say that I won 5 of my matches, with Master James of Southron Gaard winning the most.
The archery tournament was run as 4 rounds against standard targets, with each shooter getting 6 arrows per round. While I entered my lack of practice of the last few years certainly showed, picking up only 3 scoring arrows for a total of 5 points. Lady Maddie scored the best and carried off the title of Ildhafn’s Archery Champion
There was also a Liar’s Dice championship, with 17 people entering. The ultimate liar was Fraser who beat all commers.
There was also a fun set of archery games devised by Mark of Plymouth telling the saga of the Bears and Ravens raiding a monastery
